Lisa-Maree Cullum
New Zealand Born Lisa-Maree Cullum won the gold medal in the Royal Academy`s Adeline Genee Awards followed by a Prix de Lausanne scholarship. This enabled her to continue her studies at the prestigious Academie de danse Princesse Grace in Monaco, under the guidance of Madame Marika Besobrasova.
Her professional ballet career started in1989, at the age of 17, with the English National Ballet. The following year, she accepted Peter Schaufuss´s invitation, to join the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Germany. Only two months later, Schaufuss entrusted her with the lead role in the world premiere of his Giselle. Shortly after she was promoted to principal dancer. In August 1998 Ivan Liška offered Lisa-Maree a principal contract with the Bayerische Staatsballett in Münich, Germany, where she danced until mid 2015. In June 2008 Lisa-Maree was awarded by the Bavarian ministry of culture the Honorary Title “Kammertänzerin”. An acknowledgement for her extensive career as a female ballet dancer in Germany.
Since retiring from the stage Lisa-Maree has taken on a new role as a teacher and coach, passing on her knowledge and experience to present and future generations.
At present Lisa-Maree is the Associate Artistic Director and permanent teacher at the Bavaria Ballet Academy (BBA) as well as a frequently invited guest in schools and companies throughout the world.
