Kenta Kura was born in Hokkaido, Japan. At 16, he joined The Royal Ballet School on a Prix de Lausanne scholarship and graduated to The Royal Ballet in 1997 where he remained for
17 years. Kura was a soloist and danced many varied soloist and principal roles. His repertoire included choreography by Kenneth MacMillan, Frederick Ashton, Christopher Wheeldon, George
Balanchine, Jirí Kylián, William Forsythe, William Tucket, Liam Scarlett, Wayne MacGregor, David Bintley, Michael Corder, Matthew Hart, Morgann Runacle-Temple, and he took part of the key roles
in various creations. Kura has been a guest teacher for The Royal Ballet School and at the end of his career in 2014, he became an Artistic Teacher at The Royal Ballet School.
In September 2023, he was appointed Director of the K – Ballet Academy / School in Tokyo Japan by Tetsuya Kumakawa who is a founder and the Artistic Director of K-Ballet Tokyo.
